Diamond Accent Jewellery for a Wedding to Remember

Diamond Accent Jewellery for a Wedding to Remember

Wedding jewellery has long been characterised by plain wedding bands, though nowadays more couples are procuring diamond jewellery for the biggest day of their lives.

Diamond accent jewellery has long been a popular choice as engagement jewellery and still is, but we’re now also seeing it more frequently in the wedding bands that symbolise a couple’s commitment to each other.

Classic engagement rings

The classic engagement ring has always been, and many experts believe will always be, a single diamond set on a simple band, but over the past few years we’ve been seeing some different trends regarding engagement rings.

Many engagement rings aren’t only boasting diamonds either but a mix of diamonds and other jewels, most notably Kate Middleton’s famous, and inherently desirable, sapphire and diamond ring.

Bigger isn’t always better

Whilst some women desire enormous diamond engagement rings, like the excessive 20-carat ring worn by Kim Kardashian during her engagement and marriage, these rings are considered to be inferior to smaller, less excessive diamond engagement rings in many ways.

More often than not, diamonds above a few carats have serious flaws with regard to clarity and cut, so bigger is far from being better in this sense. Therefore smaller but much higher quality diamonds aren’t only much classier and more aesthetically appealing, but as we all suspected, a whole lot more wearable too.

2013 engagement jewellery trends

This year we’ve been seeing some exquisite diamond jewellery engagement creations, so this is a great year to be proposed to that’s for sure. We’ve also been seeing some interesting cuts of diamonds and plenty of diamond accent rings, with some of the most interesting as follows.

Oval cut stones

Whilst still looking exquisite as a solitaire ring, oval cut stones are at their most wonderful when set as an accent ring and they’re widely considered to be one of the most visually interesting cuts about.

Double halo

Halo rings made a big impression last year and this year we’re seeing twice as much of them, literally. Two-tiered double halo rings are bit much for some, though others can’t get enough of them, especially when contrasting colours are used in the precious metal or stones.

Bezel set

Another diamond accent engagement ring that’s proving to be extremely popular this year, bezel set diamond engagement rings offer clean lines and modernity in abundance, and many are of the mind that there’s simply no better way to show off a diamond as centrepiece stone.

Love is forever, as are diamonds

Eternity rings are traditionally given to a woman by her husband to commemorate a significant wedding anniversary and are considered by many jewellery experts to be among the most exquisite items of jewellery that can be given.

Full eternity rings are eternity rings with diamonds inlaid around the entire ring, and these are usually available in both white and yellow gold along with platinum, a precious metal that we have been seeing used more extensively in wedding jewellery of late.
